The restoration of this twelve-thousand square foot American Beaux-Arts revival of English Tudor and Jacobean manor houses returned it to a single-family house after it had been used for much of its life as an exclusive private school. The original conversion to a school left it with no kitchen, several muti-fixture school bathrooms, and conspicuously insensitive modifications for egress. The restoration involved undoing many of these modifications, repairing a variety of leaks in the complex roof and internal downspout systems, repointing the exterior balustrade, resetting the terrace paving stones, rebuilding the kitchen and eight bathrooms, re-creating interior plaster ornamentation, refinishing the hardwood floors, and extensive rewiring. Shortly after the restoration, it was sold for a record-setting price.
